Burnsville Man Dies in Vintage Car Race

Robert Hanneman, 70, was competing in the 21st annual Vintage Classic in South Beloit, IL.

A coroner has identified a Burnsville man as the driver who died in a Sunday vintage car race in South Beloit, IL, according to Mystateline.com.

Robert Hanneman, 70, was competing in the 21st annual Vintage Classic at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. He had just four laps left to go in the race when he lost control of his car and crashed.

Paramedics and trained track workers pulled Hanneman from his car and performed CPR. He was then flown to nearby Rockford Memorial, where he was pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, according to the Rockford Register Star.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office ruled the cause of death as blunt trauma to the head.
