According to the criminal complaint, a woman contacted Burnsville police May 30 and reported that Scott, her roommate, had apparently videotaped her while she was undressing in her bedroom.

The victim said that late on the evening of May 27, she was getting ready for bed, and had come into her bedroom after a shower, wearing only a towel. She said she was moving clothes around in her room when she noticed a light coming from her bed.

The woman investigated the light’s source and found an iPhone that belonged to Scott and appeared to be in the process of recording a video.

She said she paused the video and started it from the beginning. The video showed Scott placing his iPhone on the victim’s bed and attempting to conceal it with socks, then leaving the bedroom. A short time later, the video showed the victim entering the bedroom in a towel.

The victim told police that she erased the video after she watched it. She said she returned the phone to Scott and sent him text messages, asking him about the video. She said he apologized via text message “numerous times.”

The victim told police that the incident made her feel sick to the point where she was unable to eat. She said she didn’t feel safe anymore.

On June 7, an officer met with Scott, who admitted to hiding his iPhone in his roommate’s bedroom so he could record a video of her while she was naked, according to the complaint. He told the officer that he was physically attracted to the victim, and wasn’t able to control himself, the complaint says.

Scott is scheduled to make a first appearance on the charge Oct. 15 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
