A Burnsville man is facing felony charges after authorities say he fractured his roommate’s nose and threatened to kill him last week.

Patrick Kipngetich Kogo, 23, who lives in the 3800 block of Hamilton Street, is charged with making terroristic threats and third-degree assault. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint against him, Kogo had been living in the victim’s apartment for about three weeks, though his name was not on the lease.

The victim told Burnsville police that Kogo suspected that he was trying to have him evicted with the help of the apartment manager, and that he started punching him in the face repeatedly.

Kogo also threatened to kill the victim, the complaint says. When he went to the kitchen to get a knife, the victim jumped off the apartment balcony to the grass below and called police.

When police arrived, the victim’s left eye was swollen shut, his face was bleeding and his right eye had “significant swelling,” the complaint says.

Authorities took the victim to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured nose.

An omnibus hearing in Kogo’s case is scheduled for June 20 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.  He remains in the Dakota County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
