According to the criminal complaint, a neighbor of Hall’s called police on May 30 to report an ongoing domestic squabble.

The neighbor told police that the argument had been going on all day, and at one point a woman said, “Do I have to leave before I get beat up again?”

When police arrived at the apartment, in the 14600 block of Portland Avenue South, they could hear a man and a woman arguing. They heard the man – later identified as Hall – yell, “Shut the [expletive] up before I beat your [expletive] to death,” according to the complaint.

Officers knocked on the door several times, but got no answer, though they could still hear an agitated-sounding Hall, the complaint says.

After about 20 minutes, the woman, appearing nervous and shaky, opened the door. Police escorted Hall, still yelling and acting “in an agitated manner,” into the hallway.

The woman told police that she hadn’t opened the door because she was afraid of both Hall and the police and that she “didn’t want to deal with it.” She said Hall hadn’t physically hurt her, but she admitted that he had threatened her and that she was afraid of him, the complaint says.

Hall’s criminal record includes convictions for domestic assault in August and September 2007 and May 2009,  as well as a conviction for violating a no-contact order in February 2010.
