A Burnsville man charged in October with domestic abuse and criminal property damage was arrested again on two more charges of domestic abuse.

Corey Triplett Hanson, 22, was charged last week with felony first-degree criminal damage to property, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, and a gross-misdemeanor charge of domestic assault, which has a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $3,000 fine.

Hanson was initially arrested on the two charges Oct. 30, and was released on bond. He was arrested again Nov. 5 on two new counts of felony domestic abuse and remained in the Dakota County Jail, awaiting a first appearance on Tuesday.

According to the initial complaint, Burnsville police were called to Hanson’s apartment Oct. 30 and spoke to the “visibly upset” victim, who said she and Hanson had argued and that he had kicked her and their children out of the apartment, pulling her by the hair to get her to leave and pushing the oldest child into the hall.

The victim said Hanson had been drinking, and that she was frightened by Hanson’s behavior. She said she and the children were waiting for Hanson’s mother to come and pick them up and take them somewhere else for the night.

Police took the victim and the children away from the scene. Shortly afterward, Hanson’s mother arrived to get clothing and supplies for the children.

While she was there, she told police, Hanson threw rocks at her car and used a metal bar to damage it, including four shatter marks, a dent in the hood, a 3-inch crack in the front driver’s side quarter panel, a scratch in the driver’s window and a dent and crack on the lower front bumper.

Hanson’s mother told police that her son was upset because he thought she was taking the victim’s side in the argument.

Hanson’s criminal record includes a conviction for domestic assault in December 2008.
