A 33-year-old Burnsville man has been arrested and charged with felony theft after police say video surveillance recorded him burglarizing and damaging vending machines earlier this month.

The criminal complaint filed by prosecutors against Michael Scott Gardner, and signed by officer Mark Kyllo of the Hopkins Police Department, says Gardner admitted to entering a building on the 700 block of 2nd Street using his former access card and stealing more than $400 in change. Damage to the machines was estimated at $2,000.

Gardner had previously worked as a handyman in the building. He now faces one count of felony-level burglary.
