Tips from the public led to the arrests of three men, police say. The investigation is ongoing.

When police alerted the public to an outbreak of burglaries in Burnsville, tips came flowing in. Police have now arrested three men.

The following is from the June 12 Burnsville Police Department press release:

On Wednesday, July 3, 2013, the Burnsville Police Department sent out a press release on a recent string of residential burglaries. Thanks to the public, the department received multiple tips–some of which provided valuable information that led to identifying asuspect vehicle.

The week-long investigation resulted in search warrants being issued at two residences and on two vehicles. The searches linked three suspects to five burglaries. At this time, personal property from multiple burglary victims has been recovered.

Three adult males have been arrested. These individuals are:

  • Ryan Christopher Todd, 27 years old
  • Leon Kismit Bell, 39 years old
  • Loyace Benjamin Robert Grayes, 26 years old

The joint investigation between the Apple Valley, Burnsville and Lakeville police departments, and the Dakota County Sherriff’s Office, is still active. Recovered property is currently being identified and will be returned to the rightful owners as soon as possible.

A sincere “thank you” is extended to the residents of Dakota County for assisting law enforcement agencies with identification of the suspect vehicle, which was instrumental in the investigation.

As was stated in the first press release–personal safety is our primary concern. Residents are reminded to call 9-1-1 immediately if someone unexpectedly knocks on their door, and that person doesn’t have a legitimate reason for being there. We encourage anyone to report suspicious activity when it occurs.
