Obituary: Janet Blad

The "devoted wife, mother and grandmother" died on May 1 after a long fight with multiple sclerosis. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday.

Janet Blad: May 30, 1943 - May 1, 2012

Janet Marie Blad, of Burnsville, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2012, at the age of 68. She was surrounded by her husband, sister and friends.

Janet was born in Austin, MN on May 30, 1943, to Russell and Florence Mortensen Glover. Janet graduated from Austin High School in 1961.

She’d lived in Burnsville Minnesota since 1973. Janet retired early from her work as a bookkeeper in a loan office to travel with her husband Roger around the country, enjoying bowling tournaments, Pepsi memorabilia gatherings, and visiting friends. They’d made sure they had their adventures before Janet’s multiple sclerosis might make it more difficult.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Glover, and nephew, Thomas Kortz.

Janet is survived by her husband of 40 years, Roger Blad, daughter Lisa Mitlyng Knight (Jeff), grandsons Bradley and Samuel Knight. She’s also survived by her mother Florence Glover, sister Floreen Harrison, brother Robert Glover, sister-in-law Kim Glover, brother-in-law Tom Blad (Barb). Janet is also survived by many cousins, as well as nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Janet will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. While she was able, she loved to get together with friends for lunch and was great at introducing people, or keeping people in touch. She always remembered a birthday or anniversary with a card. Janet will be truly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at at in Burnsville on Saturday, May 12, 2012. The service begins at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning two hours prior, at 9 a.m.
