Obituary: Alan McMullen, 33

Alan Jacob McMullen

was born on May 17, 1970 to Richard and Susan (Sellner) McMullen of Comfrey in Springfield, MN. Alan died on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the age of 33 years.

He attended St. Paul’s Catholic Elementary School and Comfrey Public School. In high school he played football and baseball. He was also a member of the Delton Doers 4-H Club of Cottonwood County. After graduating in 1997, he went to Ridgewater College in Willmar and graduated in 2000 from the school's pre-engineering Program. Alan transferred to Minnesota State University, Mankato. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After his college graduation, Alan worked as a mechanical engineer at Endura Tech (now BOSE) in Eden Prairie. He married Kirstin Hawes of Oakdale, MN on May 19, 2006.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Sellner and Donald McMullen.

Alan is survived by his wife, Kirstin; daughters, Adelynn, Noelle, and Lydia; parents, Richard and Susan McMullen of Comfrey; brothers – Ryan (Miranda) McMullen and Philip McMullen of Plymouth, MN, and Dale McMullen of Comfrey; and grandmothers, AnnaMae McMullen and Beverly Sellner both of Comfrey.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 6th, 2012, at 10 a.m. at New Hope Church (on the corner of Highway 169 and Rockford Road in New Hope).
