Former Pastor of Lutheran Church of the Ascension Dies at 77

Rev. Clark Jaeger, 77, of Burnsville, died on Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

Jaeger was a 1954 graduate of Wahpeton High School in North Dakota, after which he attended college at Concordia University in St. Paul and Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL. He was ordained at his home congregation, Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, ND.S

Following ordination, he became the pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Massena, NY and chaplain to The State University of New York at Potsdam, Clarkson University at Potsdam, and St. Lawrence University in NY; Concordia Lutheran Church and School in Red Wing, MN, Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Burnsville, MN, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatfield, MN.

On a more personal note, he loved "his Lord, family, friends, and the Church. He enjoyed international travel, post-graduate classes, Apple computers, studying the stock market, Rotary Club, Lions Club, old cars, reading, and good jokes," his family writes.

Jaeger, is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elfrieda Jaeger.

He is survived by wife Loy, married on June 23, 1961; children, Paul (Kerrie) Jaeger, Patricia (Keith) Kendall, Charles Jaeger; grandchildren, Joshua (Michele) Jaeger, Jordan Jaeger, Leah Kendall, Gregg Kendall, and great-granddaughter Sarah Jaeger. He is also survived by sisters Carole (Don) Gehlhar, Jan (Roger) Holland, and brother Jerry (Diane) Jaeger.

A service for Jaeger will be held on March 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at Cross View Lutheran Church in Edina.
