Find It: Summer Celebrations in Burnsville on Community Garden Day

Over 50 gardens across the state will be hosting outdoor parties on Saturday, Aug. 11, for Community Garden Day 2012.

Summer is winding down and what better way to celebrate than a garden party? Luckily, this Saturday has been christened Community Garden Day 2012 and there are over 50 public events you to choose from, according to Gardening Matters.

Here's what's going on in Burnsville:

• IOC Community Garden: This garden, sponsored by the International Outreach Church and Woodhill Urban Agriculture, will be hosting a party in their organic garden promoting stewardship, beautification and personal belonging. The event will feature ethnic food, music, children’s activities and more.

The celebration takes place at 1512 Woodhill Road this Saturday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information contact 612-568-6580 or info@woodhillurbanag.org.

• Co-op Community Garden: will also be hosting an annual garden party with tours, permaculture education, teaching garden, and light refreshments. The event takes place at 13750 County Road 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information call Gary Johnson, Valley Natural Foods, at 952-891-1212.
