Parkinson's Seminar: Getting a Good Night’s Rest: Parkinson’s Disease and Sleep

Burnsville,
MN – April is designated nationally as
Parkinson’s Awareness Month. In recognition of that, Prince of Peace
Lutheran Church will host a free seminar “Getting a Good Night’s Rest: Parkinson’s
Disease and Sleep” on Tuesday, April 1 from 6:30 – 8:00
pm. Registration/exhibits open at 6:00. It
will be held in the Family Room in the Christian Life Center at Prince of
Peace.


Speakers are from the nationally recognized Struthers
Parkinson’s Center - Dan Kuyper MD, Rick Vandendolder
OTR-L, Sandra Holten MT-BC.


Approximately one million Americans
are currently living with Parkinson’s disease, with 50,000 new patients
diagnosed each year. Although most people think of Parkinson’s as a condition
only affecting older people, approximately 15% of diagnosed individuals are
under the age of 50.

Parkinson’s disease can elicit a
wide range of daily challenges. The seminar is an effort to raise awareness of
PD symptoms and management strategies. There will be adequate time for
questions and discussion, including information about the monthly Parkinson’s
support group that meets at Prince of Peace in Burnsville.
