Suspect Arrested in Death of 4-Year-Old

Burnsville authorities are investigating the sudden death of a four-year-old child.

The child died on Tuesday, at a location in the 30 block of Horizon Heights. Paramedics were called to the scene around 5 p.m. on report of a child experiencing medical problems. When they arrived on the scene, they found the child already dead.

Police have arrested a suspect, a 24-year-old male. The man has not been charged with the child's death, as the investigation is still ongoing. He does face other criminal charges connected with the incident, including violation of an order for protection, felony damage to property, fleeing a peace officer, providing false information to police and driving after revocation.

At this point, the cause of death is unknown. Police are awaiting the results of an inquest by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

The suspect remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail, held on a $50,000 bond.
