Snow Forecast this Weekend

Once again, the National Weather Service has issued a forecast for snow this weekend. Will it be the real thing or a red herring?

Burnsville should be in for a minor snowstorm this Saturday. Forecasters at the National Weather Service say the area has an 80 percent chance of precipitation tomorrow, with one inch of snow or less.

The day will begin with freezing drizzle before the noon hour, shifting into snow from 12 p.m. to 3. The chance of snow decreases during the night to just 40 percent.

The south metro will be spared the worst of the storm system, which will begin in far western Minnesota, sweeping through the region from Saturday to Thursday. Three to four inches total is expected in a band stretching from west central Minnesota to Northwestern Wisconsin.
