Hundreds Honor Oak Creek, WI Victims at Candlelight Vigil

People of varied backgrounds gathered to mourn shooting victims, show solidarity.

On Friday, Minnesota joined many other states in having a vigil in memory of the last Sunday.

More than 500 people of all faiths gathered at the Sikh Society of Minnesota temple in Bloomington on Friday night for the service.

According to KSTP, attendees started the evening service with prayer, hymns and a few speeches, with the common message being one of standing together for religious tolerance and freedom in America.

Manjeet Singh, a spokesman for the Sikh Society, said Minnesota's small Sikh community sees what happened in Wisconsin as an "isolated incident and probably a hate crime," according to KARE 11 article. Singh also said there were currently no plans to increase security at the Bloomington temple.

While Police were not aware of any threats of a copycat incident, their presence was increased near the temple Friday night.
