Former Head Cook at Vista View Elementary Dies: Recent Deaths, Week of June 1, 2013

Rita E. Dressen
Rita E. Dressen, of Burnsville, died on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine at the age of 89.

Dressen was born on May 28, 1923, in Jessenland, MN, a township west of Belle Plaine. She and her husband, Francis Dressen, were blessed with six children. For much of her life, Rita was the head baker/cook at Vista View Elementary School in Burnsville. In her spare time, she volunteered at her church, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage, MN. 

Mary Louise Eiden
Mary L. Eiden, of Lino Lakes (formerly of Burnsville), passed away May 30, 2013 at the age of 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the lower chapel of Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville, with visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials will go to the University of Minnesota's Raptor Center.

David E. Probst, Sr.

David E. Probst, Sr., of Shakopee, died on May 31, 2013 at the age of 89. He was a 60-year member of Sheet Metal Local 10. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Mark, 350 South Atwood Street. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at McNearney Funeral Home in Shakopee.
Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Gwendolyn Elizabeth Schwartz
Gwendolyn Elizabeth Schwartz, of Burnsville (formerly of Braham, MN), passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the age of 101. She is survived by her son Jerry Schwartz of Burnsville, grandsons Jason Schwartz and Christopher Schwartz; great-grandchildren Ciella and Gavin Schwartz, other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham. 

Craig Martin Macek
Craig M. Macek, of Lakeville, passed away after a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) (commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease). He was 63 years old. Macek was a longtime employee of Frontier Corp. where he worked 39 years. 

Beverly C. Ploumen
Beverly C. Ploumen died during the morning hours of Monday, May 27, 2013, at the age of 68. She was diagnosed with cancer in November 2012.

She was born June 13, 1944 in New Prague, MN, where she spent her childhood years. She graduated from New Prague High School in 1962. She married Peter Ploumen on Aug. 22, 1964 at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague. Together they had two children, Keith and Kathryn.
Beverly is described as a dedicated a wife and mother, who spent many years as a stay-at-home mom. After her children were grown, she worked part-time as a housekeeper at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee. Beverly and her husband Pete also took up horse racing in 1989, when they purchased thoroughbred racing horses and began competing at Canterbury Park. 

According to her family, she will be remembered and missed for her laughter, warmth and happy-go-lucky personality.

John Jacob Hiebert 
John J. Hiebert, of Burnsville, passed away May 27, 2013 at the age of 85. Hiebert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII and Korea. He was also a longtime employee of the City of Burnsville, where he worked in the building department. 

James Feller
James A. Feller, of Burnsville, passed away on May 24, 2013 at the age of 56. He is preceded in death by wife, Tammy Feller, father James V. Feller and sister, Lori Ashlock. He is survived by children, Jimmy and Angie Feller; mother, Joan Feller; and sisters, Lisa (Greg) Breon, Linda Feller and Leslie (Ron) Lingscheit.

Zachary T. Amberg
Zachary T. Amberg, of Burnsville, died May 26, 2013 at the age of 30.
