Body of Burnsville Man Found in Itasca County

Authorities recovered the body of a Burnsville man, an apparent drowning victim, in Itasca County.

The body of Mark Daniel Scott, 56, was recovered Wednesday evening by the Itasca County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, the Duluth News-Tribune reported. Scott was not wearing a life jacket at the time of recovery, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Scott had been the subject of a search effort by area agencies since last Sunday evening, when the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a hat was floating beside a capsized canoe on Jack the Horse Lake near Marcell.

Authorities said Scott was seen leaving a dock to go fishing just prior to dark on Saturday.
