Pet Party Planned for Grand Opening at Chuck & Don's Savage Location

Chuck & Don's Pet Food Outlet opened for business just a few weeks ago, but the store will celebrate in style with a Grand Opening Howl-O-Ween party this Saturday.

Animal lovers take note. Chuck & Don's Pet Food Outlet has officially hit town.

The Minnesota-based chain recently opened a store in Savage, its 18th location in the North Star State. The new store is located at 14109 Highway 13. According to company literature, Chuck & Don's is known for specialty products and hard-to-find necessities for pets of all kinds, from fish to Fido.

“We are thrilled to bring our product offerings and service to Savage,” Mary Bayless, Chuck & Don’s District Manager, said in a press release. “Savage will be our second location in the southwest Twin Cities region and we believe that Chuck & Don’s will be well-received by the community.”

From all appearances, those at Chuck & Don's take pet parenting very seriously. On the website, company officials mug with their pets in professional photographs, including President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Hartzell. The stores also routinely hold events for animal lovers such as Friday cat dance-offs, costume contests, chow tastings and photos with Santa during the holidays. The company also offers free advice to pet owners through its Ask Chuck feature, a blog run by Founder and CFO Chuck Anderson.

In 1991, the company opened the first outlet store in Eagan. Since then, the chain has experienced significant growth, and further expansion plans are in the works. By 2015, Chuck & Don's hopes to open 30 more locations in Minnesota and Colorado (a market they entered in 2011).

The Savage store will celebrate its existence with a Spooky Howl-O-Ween grand opening, which will feature prizes, free nail trimmings for dogs, face painting and balloon animals, free pet portraits and "bewitching refreshments treats to tempt both pets and their humans." The party will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27.
