Honda Dealership Relaunches Long-awaited Redevelopment Project

Walser Honda is finally putting the pedal to the metal: The car dealership will soon embark on a redevelopment project that has been in the works since 2008.

"We're very excited to bring this before you. We've seen previous iterations of this project and we're excited that Walser is back," said City Planner Chris Slania.

Slania added that this was perhaps a sign that the economy is recovering, slowly but steadily. 

Walser's property at 14800 Buck Hill Road will soon undergo a transformation. The building there that currently serves Walser's new car lot will be torn down to make way for a larger, sleeker one that will include a showroom, an auto repair shop, parts center, car wash and offices. The existing building dates to the early 1980s.

Walser bought the building in 2007. In 2008 the city council approved a plan to remove both and replace it with one 80,000 square foot building. The plan hit a snag after the economy collapsed and has been on hold until now. 

The new proposal sailed through council this month unanimously—and with gratitude.

"We really appreciate Walser's continued investment in Burnsville," said Council Member Dan Kealey.
