From Hooters to Hurricane

The old Hooters building will be home to another Florida restaurant chain—Hurricane Grill & Wings, a family restaurant and bar that could give Buffalo Wild Wings a run for its money.

“We saw a really great opportunity to expand Hurricane Grill & Wings to Minnesota,” Mitch Peterson, president of Torgerson, said in a statement to Twin Cities Business. “Minnesota is full of wings fans.”

According to news releases from the company, the Burnsville location will be the first of 17 in Minnesota, and represents just small part of an aggressive expansion plan that will ultimately bring the restaurant to Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. In all, the company plans to open 65 new locations.

Since its inception in 1995, the company has already to include locations in Arizona, Indiana, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania in addition to its home state.

Since opening its first restaurant in 1995, Hurricane has grown to include more than 45 locations throughout Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania.

 By fall, Hurricane should be opening up in the building at 12950 Aldrich Avenue South. According to Twin Cities Business, 16 other restaurants are set to crop up in Minnesota over the next eight years. Click here to get a preview of the menu.
