Farmers' Market to occupy Transit Station

For the second year in a row, the St. Paul Farmers' Market will be displaced by road construction.

Once again, organizers of the St. Paul Farmers' Market have opted to move Saturday's market from the Burnsville Senior Campus to the Burnsville Transit Station.

"We were there last year because of road work being done. There is further work being done so we're going to stay there for this year yet," said Market Manager Jack Gerten.

The market has been a part of Burnsville for about 20 years, Gerten said. Gerten hopes that the Burnsville clientele will not be put off by the switch in sites.

"The first year you do it, no matter ho much you advertise it seems like it's impossible to get your customers to realize you moved," Gerten said. "Now that it's the second year, people will be looking for us there, though we'll have this problem when we go back."

Gerten said that the market will likely be resume its tenure at the Burnsville Senior Campus in 2012.
