Chobani Greek Yogurt Removed from Burnsville Grocery Shelves

Cub Foods and Target in Burnsville confirmed that the affected products had been removed.

Updated Thursday, 7:53 p.m.

Chobani has pulled some of its products from grocery shelves after receiving reports of people becoming ill from the brand's Greek yogurt.

The company announced the voluntary recall Thursday morning, according to CBS News. Customers had been telling the company that yogurt cups looked "fizzy" or that they felt sick after eating it.

Employees at both Cub Foods locations in Burnsville confirmed that the affected products were removed from shelves on Wednesday. Target employees also said they removed affected products sometime in the week.

Chobani has identified the problem as a mold that it says is common in dairy products. CEO Hamdi Ulukaya wrote a letter to customers apologizing for the issue.

The affected yogurt products are labeled with the product code 16-012 and have expiration dates from Sept. 11 through Oct. 7.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has a full list of affected products on its website.

If you have an affected product, contact Chobani at chobani.com/care for a replacement or refund.
