Burnsville To Get New Gastropub

Morgan's on Nicollet is set to open its doors May 2 and will cater to businesses, travelers and locals

The newest member of the Burnsville business community is hoping to set the standard in the city for family-style, from-scratch cuisine.

A new gastropub set to open its doors on May 2, Morgan's on Nicollet has built its food and drink menu around fresh ingredients and carefully selected craft beer, wine and whiskey.

Web-based encyclopedia Wikipedia defines a gastropub as "a bar and restaurant that serves high-end beer and food."

"There is not a restaurant south of the (Minnesota) River that has the tavern/pub feel Morgan's has," marketing director Nathan Kremer explained. "Morgan's will not be your run-of-the-mill chain restaurant you might see on (County Road) 42. Morgan's menu will be creative, delicious and forever developing."

Launched to fill a void in the city's iconic Nicollet Inn, Morgan's also aims to "fill a need for travelers and locals alike... Whether it is tourists on vacation, locals meeting their friends and families or a business traveler needing a full-service hotel," Kremer explained.

According to a press statement from Nicollet Inn, Morgan’s will be open for breakfast only for business groups of 10 or more. Its kitchen will stay open late for weary travelers or hungry locals until midnight every night and it will cater to local businesses that can’t leave the office during the day for orders of five or more.
