Burnsville is under a hazardous weather outlook today and tonight, when a balmy afternoon could be followed by a stormy evening. Sunday forecast calls for cool, rainy weather.

Burnsville and the rest of southern and central Minnesota are under a hazardous weather outlook for today and tonight.

The National Weather Service says warm weather in the 80s will continue through this afternoon, when a cold front moves in and could lead to thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail.

Rain will continue into tomorrow when highs are expected to reach the 60s.

As of 11 a.m. today, no other weather warnings had been issued.

The temperature certainly was heating up quickly this morning. The temperature at the weather service’s reporting station at Lakeville’s Airlake Airport was 81 at 10:54 a.m.

A high of 89 is forecast for Burnsville today.

Friday’s high temperature in the Twin Cities was a record 93 degrees, recorded at 4:27 p.m. The old record was 91, set in 1911.

The record high for May 19 is 97, set just three years ago.
