360 Communities Hosts Candlelight Awareness Walk

More than 60 community members gathered Thursday night at the Lewis House in Eagan to participate in the third annual Sexual Assault Awareness Walk.

In an effort to raise awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence, Burnsville nonprofit 360 Communities hosted a candlelight walk last Thursday night that began at the Lewis House in Eagan and ended in a nearby park.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. An average of 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States, 360 Communities wrote in press release, citing statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In addition to the walk, 360 Communities honored Eagan Police Department Sgt. Linda Myhre with the Community Caring Award for her role as a local advocate for the victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
