PeerGenius Tutors has expanded to Burnsville and other cities in Dakota County from its current locations in South Florida and the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area.
PeerGenius Tutors is a Maryland based company that trains and certifies high school students to help their peers in kindergarten through 12th grade. Tutors will be able to help students with their courses, study skills, organization and time management, according to a news release.
In addition to expanding to Dakota County, PeerGenius will also serve students in Carver, Scott and Washington Counties.
"Minnesota has very good schools, especially in the four counties we chose," said Peter Traub, co-founder of PeerGenius Tutors.
He added that he believes families in the area place a high value on education, which is important since PeerGenius hires top-achieving high school students.
“We have numerous jobs available for teens who are strong overall students and also students who excel in a particular subject area,” said Traub in the release. “It’s real work experience and looks great on college applications.”
PeerGenius is currently hiring and training tutors throughout August and will start offering services in Dakota County on Sept. 1.
The positions are flexible, above minimum wage and as peer tutors, students gain from the benefits of teaching others. Students can tutor in whatever subjects they feel comfortable in, Traub explained.
Interested students can apply for a position on the PeerGenius Tutors website.
