Job Search: Burnsville ALC Seeks AmeriCorps Promise Fellows

Fellows will work with students in grades 7 through 10.

The Burnsville Area Learning Center (BALC) is seeking AmeriCorps Promise Fellows for all District 191 secondary schools, the district has announced.

Promise Fellows will work with youth in grades 7-10 at one of the following locations: Metcalf Junior High School, Eagle Ridge Junior High School, Nicollet Junior High School and Burnsville High School.

This opportunity will include mentoring students during the school day, assisting with academics, engaging students and families in the school and community and service learning.

Full-time AmeriCorps Promise Fellows serve 1,725 hours (35 to 40 hours per week) from Sept. 2013 to Aug. 31, 2014. They will receive: a modest living allowance (approximately $1,000 monthly pre-tax); health insurance; qualified student loan deferment; qualified childcare assistance; $5,550 education award upon successful completion of service; ongoing, extensive support and training.
