TONIGHT: Famed Author Carl Hiaasen to Speak in Burnsville

Dakota County will soon play host to Carl Hiaasen, a Florida novelist and chronicler of the weird and wonderful.

Hiaasen is known for his wickedly funny take on his home state, best exemplified in the best-selling novels Strip TeaseSick Puppy, and Nature Girl. He is also a longtime reporter and columnist for the Miami Herald. His appearance at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center will center on his latest work, Bad Monkey, which is described as “a wickedly funny, fiercely pointed tale in which the greedy, the corrupt, and the degraders of pristine land in Florida… get their comeuppance in mordantly ingenious, diabolically entertaining fashion.”

Hiaasen's talk is sponsored by Club Book and the Dakota County Library System. It begins at 7 p.m. The event is free to the public, but seating is first-come, first serve.
