Jamison Murphy Headed to L.A. to Record First Album

An Indiegogo fundraising campaign has raised more than $3,000 to make his first record in Los Angeles. He'll work with Warren Huart, a producer with a Grammy nomination to his name, the Star Tribune reported.

He played through a broken guitar string at a Lakeville South High School homecoming coronation. Now the Star Tribune reports Jamison Murphy, 24, is raising money to pay for a trip to Los Angeles to record his first album.

According to the Star Tribune, Murphy, who was born in Burnsville and raised in Lakeville, said he is excited for the experience:

“Since it’s my debut record, I feel like I’ve spent my entire life working toward this moment. You only get one ‘first record,’ so unfortunately, I’ll never get to relive this experience in quite the same light again — I’m not taking anything for granted …”

Murphy's Indiegogo fundraising effort passed his $3,000 goal and as of early Thursday stood at $3,281. (The fundraising period ends Aug. 11 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.)
