What's Open, What's Closed on New Year's in Burnsville

Got some last-minute business to take care of on New Year's? Here are some schedules we've nailed down for you, but if you know of others—especially establishments that will be open—please leave them in the comments section below.

Here's the skinny on: 

...Food and Basic Necessities

• Rainbow Foods: in Apple Valley: Open New Year's Eve until 9 p.m. Opens at 8 a.m. on New Year's Day. 
• Cub Foods: All Cub locations in the south metro will be open for regular hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Byerly's: Normal hours on both days (6 a.m. to midnight). 
• Valley Natural Foods: On new Year's Eve, the co-op will be open 8 a.m. to 6 .m. The co-op will be closed all day on Jan. 1.

...Drug Stores

• The Walgreens on Galaxie Avenue in Apple Valley will be open 24-7, without pause. The location on County Road 42 in Burnsville will be open during regular hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve and Jan. 1. The pharmacy will have special hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year's Day. The Lac Lavon Walgreens will be open on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for regular hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pharmacy will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on NYE, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day. 

• The new CVS on Nicollett will be operating on its regular schedule on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  

...Big Box Stores

• Walmart: Will be open for regular hours.
• Super Target: Target will be open on Monday, Dec. 31, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

...Liquor and Wine

• Blue Max will be open till 10 p.m. on NYE. Closed on New Year's Day. 
• Red Lion will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on both days.
• MGM will be open on one hour early on New Year's Eve, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. They will be closed on Jan. 1.
• Haskell's will be open on New Year's Eve until 8 p.m. The store will close at 4 p.m. on New Year's Day.

...Government Services

• All Burnsville city offices will be closed Jan. 1, 2013. In Savage, city offices will closed on New Year's Day as well.

• Burnsville-Eagan-Savage public schools will be out of session Friday, Dec. 21 through Jan. 2; school resumes Jan. 3.

• The Dakota County Western Service Center and all other Dakota County offices will be open on New Year's Eve from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed all day on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Staff will resume work on Wednesday.
• Burnsville's Burnhaven Library, and all other Dakota County libraries, will will close at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 and all day on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

• The United States Postal Service branch in Burnsville, as well as all others, will be closed on Jan. 1. There will be no mail delivery that day.
