VIDEO: Gunfight in Dakota City at the Dakota County Fair

Local lawmen brought down a gang of outlaw gunslingers on Sunday during a bank robbery reenactment at the fair.

Visitors to the concluding day of the Dakota County Fair might have been confused by the explosions and gun smoke drifting over from Dakota City. Though it sounded like a daytime fireworks display, in actuality it was the sounds and smells of a foiled bank robbery (simulated, of course).

As the Jonas Hex gang made their way out of the Vermillion Bank, they were met by Marshall McRae, his deputees and a few concerned citizens. Over several minutes, they exchanged pistol, rifle and shotgun fire in the busy streets of Dakota City.

The smoke cleared, and while Marshall McRae had a gunshot wound, his daughter picked up his pistol and ended the fight with a single well-aimed shot.
