UPDATE: Outer Edge of 'Draco' Could Hit South Metro After All
Forecasters are now saying that the powerful winter storm will likely touch on Burnsville, Apple Valley and other cities south of the river, bringing windy conditions and up to four inches of snow.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Chanhassen has adjusted its forecast: Officials now believe that the powerful winter storm bearing down on the Midwest will track further north than previously expected, which means Dakota County could see some snowfall after all.
"Draco," as the storm is called, will sweep through tonight and Thursday; Iowa, southeastern Minnesota and southern Wisconsin could see blizzard conditions, with roads from Des Moines to Madison becoming impassable.
Originally, it was thought that the storm would pass well south of the Twin Cities region. But weather models have shifted the path of the storm north, and Dakota County could see two to four inches of snow by Thursday afternoon. The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area, which was inundated with 12.5 inches of snow last week.

Draco is the fourth system to be given a name since the Weather Channel began giving strong winter storms official titles in October.
