UPDATE: Winter Storm Watch Changed to Advisory

Yet another winter storm appears imminent Thursday and Friday, with lower snowfall totals predicted but plenty of sleet and freezing rain to make up for it .

Another winter storm is on the way, dashing hopes of spring with up to three to five inches of snow and high winds.

According to the National Weather Service, the upcoming system promises a nasty mixture of snow, rain, and sleet. The storm is expected to sweep in on Thursday and persist through Friday. The second storm could bring "moderate to heavy snow...across of broad swath of Minnesota." At this point there is some uncertainty as to where the heaviest "snow axis" will be.

A winter storm advisory will be in effect from Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon.

The state just recovered from another heavy winter storm, which bombarded the state with rain, snow and sleet from April 9 to April 12.

According to the state climatology office, this month has been exceptionally wet. April 2013 has been graced by a stretch of ten consecutive days of measurable precipitation (April 5th to April 14), a feat only equaled or bested by two other occasions in Minnesota weather history since 1871: May 30 to June 9, 1883 and June 18 to June 27, 1951.
