Guide to the Burnsville Fire Muster

In case you missed it, here is Burnsville's signature Fire Truck Parade distilled to one minute, plus a calendar of events still to come.

Today, the Burnsville Fire Muster hit a rather loud, high note with the annual Fire Truck Parade. The lineup featured trucks new, old and older from all over Minnesota.

However, the day is only half-over and the Fire Muster festivites are just beginning. Here is a look ahead:

Saturday, Sept. 10

The carnival continues all day, from noon to 11 p.m. in . In addition to midway rides and games, kids can enjoy pony rides, face painting, hair painting, airbrush tattoos and a variety of activities at the Kidz Korner.

On both Saturday and Sunday, there will also be helicopter rides throughout the day, which lift off from a hill west of the park's main stage.

Adults can also help themselves to a round of bingo at the Beer Tent. The games run from 2 p.m. to 6.

Some events will be free, such as the fire demonstrations from the from 12 p.m. to 3. Following that will be a police canine unit demonstration at 3 p.m. and a fire truck water display from 6 p.m. to 9:30.

Two sports teams will also be on site to meet the public, including representatives from the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Vixens, both of which will be at booths at the park until 5 p.m. 

For those seeking culture, the Chameleon Theatre Circle's New Play Festival is still ongoing. It is free at the . The festival is ongoing until 5 p.m.

The day will reach at climax at 7 p.m. when the musical group Hitchville takes the stage at 7 p.m. They will perform until 11, with a brief intermission for the fireworks display at 9:45 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 11


On this, the anniversary of one of a national tragedy, the day will begin with a Community Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. at the Civic Center Park. The event is sponsored by the . The service will be followed by a display by the Minnesota Kite Society.

Next is the Community Parade, which runs from 1 p.m. to 2. Burnsville Patch will be in the parade, so look for us. We'll be handing out candy and goodies.

Parade watchers are advised to go to on 701 E. 130th Street for parking, restrooms and refreshments.

The parade will conclude with a 9/11 10th Anniversary Memorial Service at the Main Stage in Civic Center Park. John Campbell, the Chaplain for the Burnsville Police and Fire Department, will be officiating.

For the rest of the day, the carnival and other fun events will continue, including a long lineup of live music, with bands playing from noon to 4 p.m. on the Main Stage.
