Grandma's Marathon 2012 Race Results for Burnsville Runners

Local residents laced up their running shoes this weekend in Duluth.

Thousands took to the rolling terrain of Duluth and the North Shore this weekend for the 36th annual Grandma's Marathon and the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, including more than three dozen from Burnsville.

All told, 44 runners from Burnsville completed the marathon.

Braden Schuenke, 26, finished with the top time among runners from Burnsville, at 3 hours, 5 minutes and 16 seconds. He finished 224th out of 5,788 runners and 194th out of 2,435 male runners.

Burnsville’s top female finisher was Jacqueline Sorensen, 22, with a time of 3 hours, 52 minutes and 6 seconds. She finished 1,619th overall and 407th out of 2,363 women runners.

The marathon was won by Berhanu Girma, 25 of Cambridge. Everlyne Lagat, 31, of Albuquerque, led the women. In the half-marathon, Jack Delehanty, 25, of Minneapolis placed first overall, and Kelly Brinkman of Bloomington, 31, placed first among women.
