Eight Inches of Snow Reported in Burnsville

A major winter storm swept through over Monday night and Tuesday, causing headaches for commuters and cancellations at schools, churches and civic organizations.

What could be the last major snowstorm of the season came through Tuesday, prompting a mid-week holiday for the city's students and lengthy delays on the region's roadways.

Burnsville got six to eight inches of powder, while its neighbors got anywhere from 8.5 (Richfield) to 10 (Lakeville). Both Burnsville-Eagan-Savage and Lakeville schools were closed because of the storm. Morning mass was also cancelled at Mary, Mother of the Church and the city's youth center, the Garage, was also closed for the day.

Schools in ISD 191 will open as usual on Wednesday. Major roads, which were "difficult" as of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, are now clear
