Dakota County Kicks Off November Shoe Recycling Campaign

In honor of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, residents can drop off shoes from Monday, Nov. 12 to Sunday, Nov. 18 at locations in Eagan, Apple Valley and Burnsville.

Instead of throwing away old or unwanted shoes, residents in Burnsville, Apple Valley and Eagan can once again recycle them during a free one-week collection coordinated by Dakota Valley Recycling (cities of Apple Valley, Burnsville and Eagan).

In honor of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, residents can drop off shoes from Monday, Nov. 12 to Sunday, Nov. 18 at locations in each community.

Shoes of all types, sizes and styles, in any condition, will be accepted.Shoes donated as part of the program are collected by a local-area company, USAgain LLC, and either separated for reuse or recycled into new products.

In 2011, residents in Burnsville, Apple Valley and Eagan prevented 2.4 tons of shoes from going to the landfill.
