Burnsville Lions Donation Funds New Roof at Savage Picnic Shelter

The donation bought a more durable roof for the shelter.

The Burnsville Lions donated over $12,000 to Savage, a portion of which paid for a new roof on the picnic shelter at Trost Park.

According to the City of Savage:

A new steel roof installed on the Trost Park shelter last month is expected to require less maintenance and be more resistant to vandalism than traditional shingles. The shelter is used for picnics in the summer and as a warming house for ice skaters in the winter.

The project was paid for with part of a $12,500 donation from the Burnsville Lions. Trost Park is located at 5455 137th Street West, on the corner of 137th Street and Vernon Avenue.

The Lions’ generosity also is supporting improvements at Hollywood Park, located at 12840 Lynn Ave. S. near downtown Savage. That project, planned for construction this fall, will result in a new border around the playground area and more open space at the park.

The contribution to the City of Savage is just one of several the Burnsville Lions have made with charitable gambling proceeds. McHugh's Public House in Savage is among the businesses where the Lions’ charitable gambling operations are located.
