Find It: An Ash Wednesday Service in Burnsville

Season of Lent begins with service in which congregants receive ash-on-forehead mark.

The season of Lent—the traditional period of penance, self reflection, fasting (and fish fries!)—begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday is one of the holiest days for Roman Catholics, but also Episcopalians, Lutherans, and other main line protestant denominations. Ash Wednesday is celebrated with services in which the faithful are marked with an ash cross on the forehead.

The season of Lent ends with Good Friday and Easter.
