UPDATE: BFD Called to Apartment Fire
The Friday morning blaze at Burningham Apartments is still under investigation.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of a fire that broke out in the fourth floorof Burningham Apartments Friday morning.
No injuries were reported, though dozens of residents were evacuated. Flames were contained within a single apartment due to the building's construction, said Fire Chief B.J. Jungmann. The apartment complex is blessed with concrete floors and ceilings, which kept the fire localized to a single spot. Jungmann said the damage to the apartment itself was not permanent, though many of the resident's possessions were ruined by smoke.
"It will be uninhabitable for a little while, but the damage wasn't horrible," Jungmann said.
The incident remains under investigation.
Jungmann asked residents to take fire alarms seriously. When the Burnsville Fire Department arrived very few residents had evacuated, though smoke was filling the fourth and fifth floors.

Thank goodness there were no injuries. I'll bet if you were to ask any of the evacuees, they'd all say that there should have been EDI's at every exit though... especially when the building was filling with smoke. Just can't figure out why local jurisdictions don't actually require them? you can see one of these things work at www.TheLightThatSavesLives.com ....they could save your life.
Bless all the firefighters; every single one of them,
-Cap'n Hank (Ret.)

Actually, everyone in that building including myself was evacuated for hours. I could not return because I was on the fifth floor. Thankfully we do have cement everything and huge heavy fire doors. Best invention ever!
