Obituary: Bonnell Jean "Bonnie" Distad, 71
This week saw the passing of Bonnie Distad, a Burnsville resident known for her green thumb and artistic talent.
Bonnell Jean "Bonnie" Distad, of Burnsville, died on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at the age of 71.
Bonnie Distad was born to Franklin and Bernice (Benedict) Bush. She grew up in the Rochester area. In 1961, she married Jerome "Jerry" Distad. During their 34 year marriage, the two were long-time residents of Lincoln, NE, Rochester and finally Burnsville.
Distad's family describes her as a devoted caregiver, who was also self-employed artist and crafter.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died in 1995.
Distad is survived by two sons, Trevor Distad (Helen) of Pine Island and Trent Distad of Nebraska; companion, Glenn Elfmann of Burnsville; six grandchildren, Danielle Lesage, Nathan and Nicholas Distad, Taylor and Matthew Lambert and Melaina Distad.
Funeral services is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the start of the service on Saturday. Interment will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society are preferred in lieu of flowers.
