Nearly 4,000 enthusiasts are expected to decend on Lakeville Sunday, May 6, for the 46th annual Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride.
The event, which begins and finishes at Lakeville North High School, offers four distance options—17, 30, 50, 68 and 100 milers. New last year, the ride is a Minnesota Gran Fondo, a timed bike event.
Over 300 volunteers will be on hand as participants can view sponsor displays and enjoy food and beverages before heading out.
"Its been around since '67... started by Lake Calhoun," said Susan Willis of the Ironman staff last year. "Its been in Lakeville for 13 years, I think. Lakeville seems to like us and we're glad to be here."
