After an often contentious year, over half the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Board of Education will face re-election in fall. Incumbent Board Members DeeDee Currier, Chair Ron Hill and Sandra Sweep will face voters, as will newcomer Bob VandenBoom, who was appointed last year to fill a vacancy on the board.
The first to file has been Currier, who put her name in today, according to district officials.
Candidates can file for one two-year term or three four-year spots on the board.
Filing opens from July 31 to Aug. 14. Candidates must submit an affidavit in person at the Administrative Service Center, which will have abridged hours for some of summer. From July 31 to Aug. 13, the building will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Aug. 14, the last day to file, the center will operate from 7:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Filing costs $2.
There will be no primary. All who file will be on the ballot during the general election on Nov. 6, unless they file an affidavit of withdrawal before Aug. 16.
