Canterbury Park’s sixth annual Extreme Race Day, Saturday, July 21, will feature three stakes races on a ten-race program, plus exhibition races by camels and ostriches.

Racing begins at 1:30 p.m. The $15,000 added Dash In A Flash Stakes is a 110-yard race for American Quarter Horses. This is the first time in Canterbury Park history that this distance has been contested. The $35,000 H.B.P.A Sprint has attracted a field of seven while the $50,000 John Bullit Stakes has nine entries, including defending champion Wild Jacob.

Camels and ostriches will take part in exhibition races throughout the afternoon. Camels take the track after race four (approximately 3 p.m.) and ostriches follow race seven (approximately 4:40 p.m.).

Shakopee Mayor Brad Tabke will compete in the camel race as will track handicapper Angela Hermann.

"I'm excited to help promote Canterbury Park and their Extreme Race Days," Tabke told Patch. "(Canterbury is) a great Shakopee business and it will be a lot of fun!"
