Burnsville Juvenile Charged in Mall of America Melee

An unnamed local juvenile was one of 18 charged in the scuffle that broke out during a busy day at MOA on Dec. 26, 2011.

A Woodbury woman who was at the Mall of America during the massive fight that broke out Monday says, "It was a mob."

Over a dozen people face criminal charges stemming from a series of post-Christmas clashes at the Mall of America, including one Burnsville teen. Monday, Bloomington Police announced that charges had at last been filed in connection to a series of disturbances that broke out on Dec. 26, 2011.

A report by the Pioneer Press gives a blow-by-blow account of the unfolding unrest that roiled holiday crowds at MOA: Brawling broke out in at least three places that afternoon, including the food court and mall transit center. By the end of the day, 12 people had been arrested.

According to KSTP and the PiPress, the charges are as follows

Gross Misdemeanor Third-Degree Riot

• Two St. Paul adults, one Minneapolis adult, and one Columbia Heights adult have been charged with gross misdemeanor third degree riot, in addition to three St. Paul juveniles and one Burnsville juvenile.

Trespass, Gross Misdemeanor

• One St. Paul adult has been charged.

Disorderly Conduct/Trespassing

• Three St. Paul adults, three Minneapolis juveniles, two Roseville juveniles, one is a St. Paul juvenile, and one Ramsey juvenile have been charged.
