Burnsville Chamber Names New President
Bill Corby, the president of the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, will assume Daron Van Helden's old post by Sept. 4.
The Burnsville Chamber of Commerce has a new man at the helm: Bill Corby, the current president of chamber in Hutchinson, a town about an hour-and-a-half west of Burnsville.
Corby has been president of the Hutchinson Chamber for five years. For 13 years he was a business owner himself, as the proprietor of Corby's Portrait Images.
Corby has gotten high marks from his peers in rural Minnesota.
“I have known Bill since he started his career in the Chamber business and have found him to be open and straightforward. He is one who has good follow-through and good judgement," wrote Ken Warner, president of the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. "Bill is a good listener, intellectually curious, creative and has perspective on the broader picture. Any Chamber who has Bill employed, will have a good leader with vision.”
Corby's home newspaper, the Hutchinson Leader, reported that Corby took the job in Burnsville to ease his wife's lengthy commute to Eden Prairie, among other reasons. His final day in Hutchinson is Aug. 24. According to a recent article in the Star Tribune, Corby will begin with the Burnsville Chamber Sept. 4.
